Life and Society:

Queeth was liberated and is named after a great sorcerer: Queeth the Prismatic Magician. The powerful sorcerer ruled the nation for many years after its creation, promoting freedom and sorcery to all. Its first lord’s influence is still noticeable in Queeth today, as many of its current inhabitants are sorcerers and the nation lives magic. The small nation is presently a beacon of peace and trade and a save heaven and home for thousands of sorcerers. Contrary to other nations Queeth is a place where sorcerers are immensely appreciated and respected. The nation builds upon the principles established long ago by its first lord.

Being able to use magic build down from the essence of live it self is often frowned upon and discouraged in other nations. Not in Queeth, here it is a gift and a true mastery. Many sorcerers throughout the world make the journey to Queeth to make a living here, train and develop their abilities under a real Master or simply to be accepted in the society. Approximately forty percent of the population of Queeth has some ability to use magic instinctively. Besides, showing to be able to use magic is an important part of the society. Open displays of magic, presentations of ones abilities and skills is a common day practice in Queeth. Daily activities, somewhere else simple handlings or procedures, must involve some (minor) magic in Queeth.

The people in Queeth appreciate each other and their freedom. They value magic, travelers and adventurers. The people like to live and to smile, strangers are welcome, and adventurers are famous. The people of Queeth try to make something out of everyday. Work has to be done and when it’s finished its time to use magic or enjoy the remaining of the day. Open display of magic is important, and being able to cast spells inherently makes live easier. However, magic is not seen as a field of study or a livelong dedication, instead it’s a gift which can be developed by experience and practice in everyone’s daily lives. In retrospect, a famous local saying goes: a Queethian sorcerer only goes to bed when he runs out of spells.

Geographical Features:

Important Sites:

Ittramar (the invisible city) (Large City: 23,810): This large city is located in the north of the nation, at the coast of the Floating Sea. The large stone capital of Queeth is surrounded by a high stone wall with three large gates. The main activity takes place at the harbor, where ships come and go. Between the city walls there is always something happening; a normal day has common displays of magic, active streets and busy people. Daily, dozens of ships, flying and non-flying arrive at the harbor and the airport with goods and supplies. A large float island, one hundred feet high in the air, hosts the airport for the flying ships, various flying disk commanded by city officials bring and fetch all travelling to and from the airport. Illusion is popular in Ittramar, and for those that can afford it or have the ability to, enhancing buildings with changing illusions or patterns is quite common. The city has a busy and almost cozy looking demeanor.

Ceasbaruk (Large City: 21,900): Just as Ittramar also Ceasbaruk is located at the sea. This first of the two large cities of Queeth is known for its large warrior school. The Bladeweavers of Ceasbaruk combine sorcery and martial prowess to combat enemies. Thus instead of swearing off the martial way for magic, the city combines sorcery and melee. Next to the Bladeweavers, many other sorcerers’ in this city learn the skill of fighting besides magic. A spellcaster with armor and a sword or an axe is a commonality here. Just as everywhere else in the nation, minor magic spellcasting takes place daily here. Illusion however is less important than in Ittramar, but minor tricks in different magical areas, especially transmuting magical energies and forms into different ones, are very common here. Especially nobles display magic to show their statue and wealth.

Organizations and Institutions:

The Invisibility College: This most famous college of sorcery on Tilea is known for its illusion spells. The sorcerers of the Invisibility College have a different way of teaching magic than the usual wizards’ schools. The Invisibility College promotes training and practice as a way of learning. The students are often obliged to empty their daily allotments of spells under extremely heavy circumstances. The Invisibility College is well known for making the city of Ittramar invisible and untraceable for an invading Istrian army.

Bladeweavers of Ceasbaruk: The famous Bladeweavers of Ceasbaruk combine sword fighting with sorcery to defeat their foes. The warriors possess special abilities to dispel and counter magical effects while swinging and weaving with their blades. The Bladeweavers are a magically capable force to be reckoned with dedicated towards defending the nation’s interests. Besides being the common authority in the city of Ceasbaruk, the Bladeweavers also perform various missions for the government of Queeth.

Regional Facts and History:

The nation of Queeth was liberated from Kaladon oppression by the Great Sorcerer: Queeth the Prismatic Magician in the year 2010 AC. Queeth freed the cities of Ittramar and Ceasbaruk and the lands surrounding the cities and found a new nation, with him as ruler. In the years to come, many sorcerers throughout Tilea found out about a nation made for and by sorcerers, they left their old homes and departed for Queeth. Today still many sorcerers travel to Queeth to start a living for themselves. Later in 2209 AC, when Queeth disappeared, without any heirs to his position a council of senior sorcerers, most powerful practitioners of the art in the nation, stood up to rule the nation.

In those days, the alliance of the two cities and the lands around them officially received the name Queeth and became a nation. The land remained stable only for a short while. Istr declared war in 2211 AC, in the hope of quickly reclaiming their former territory (as the lands of Queeth used to be a part of Istr), in a time of Queeths’ weakness (shortly after the disappearance of the nations ruler. Istr declared war and planned a quick invasion on its neighbouring nation. Istr plan was to invade Ittramar from the sea and conquer the capitol and with it the rest of the nation quickly. However, during those times the sorcerers of the Invisibility College achieved their greatest feat ever, and made the city of Ittramar turn invisible. For many months have the forces of Istr searched for the city, until finally turning home, disappointed and defeated. Today the nations have an uneasy truce.
